2011 - Mickey Goldsen, one-time head of Capitol Records' publishing arm, Capitol Songs, and founder and CEO for 61 years of publishing company Criterion Music, dies at his home in Encino, California at age 99.
40 Years Ago Today In 1977 - Guitarist Earl Klugh, with Lloyd Green on pedal steel guitar, Hubie Crawford on electric bass, Gene Dunlap on drums and percussion, and a string section (lineup unlisted) using an arrangement by Booker T. Jones, records the titles "Julie" with the addition of Darryl Dybka on electric piano and "Cry A Little While" at Music City Music Hall in Nashville, Tennessee. Blue Note Records will issue both "Julie" on Klugh's CD "Love Songs" (8-53354-2) and both titles on the CD "Magic In Your Eyes" (7-48389-2).
